Senior Program Officer Cristina Blevins traveled to Sacramento to participate in a statewide panel on child-care and family-friendly workplaces hosted by the Women’s Business Center. Cristina was joined by Christina Latner of SLO Family Friendly Workplaces and Jackie Melendez, city manager for the City of Chino, in a discussion moderated by Katty Ibarra from the San Diego WBC.
Together, they explored which policies most effectively keep women in the workforce, the strategies needed to scale child care and family-friendly practices meaningfully, and the importance of both public and private sector alignment in this work.
Cristina also highlighted how First 5 OC’s business incubator program serves as a promising model for supporting entrepreneurs who are balancing family responsibilities and building stability.
