The June Board began with a presentation on our investments in the prenatal and postnatal system of care in Orange County, where staff shared a range of offerings from hospital screenings to home visiting, community health worker support, prenatal and postnatal group series, and support for families impacted by substance use disorder.
There were two public hearing items related to First 5 California’s Annual Report and the State Controller’s audit, and our new Strategic Plan and 2026-27 budget. The agenda also included an item to continue our Engaged Neighborhood work in Santa Ana, La Habra, Garden Grove, and Anaheim.
The meeting closed with the election of officers for FY 2026-27. We’re pleased to welcome back Irene Salazar following her reappointment to the First 5 Orange County Board, along with Jackie Filbeck, who returns after previously serving as a Board member. We’re also excited to welcome Allyson Muniz Damikolas as a newly appointed member. Together, their leadership and expertise will help advance our mission of ensuring every child in Orange County has the strongest possible start in life.
