Join us at 9 a.m. October 7, 2020 as the First 5 Orange County Children and Families Commission meets via Zoom to unveil the Orange County Child Care Landscape Analysis.
First 5 Orange County’s Orange County Child Care Landscape Analysis is the first part of a three-phase initiative. This phase examines the availability and type of child care offered for young children in Orange County; the flow of public funding entering the county; and the key providers and partners involved in providing child care.
The first phase of the initiative contains data-rich information about the child care landscape in Orange County and contains the results of six months of research and analysis revealing a harsh landscape for Orange County’s working parents hoping to find affordable child care, especially for those who need it for their infants or toddlers. The study involved extensive input and data gathering from child care providers and other key stakeholders.
As the report underlines, the child care system in our area is fragile and ripe for systemwide improvements. The presentation will also touch on the second phase of this work which includes gathering employer and parent input as well as assessing the impacts of child care on our economy.
Other agenda items include an update on First 5 Orange County’s equity work, a report on intergovernmental transfer (IGT) funds and how these funds are being leveraged in the community, the Orange County Community Indicators Report, and a public hearing on First 5 Orange County’s FY 2019/20 annual report.
