At First 5 Orange County, we know that children are better able to reach their full potential when their caregivers are at their best too.
For this reason, we want all families to know that new and expecting mothers enrolled in CalOptima who are experiencing a maternal mental health challenge, such as pregnancy or postpartum- related depression or anxiety, can have their coverage extended for the 12 month postpartum period in order to receive needed care.
First 5 OC and the Orange County Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder (OC PMAD) Collaborative have shared a brief tutorial for Medi-Cal-contracted perinatal providers and staff on how to complete and submit the MC-61 form so that clients may receive extended coverage and access care as soon as possible.
Many thanks to our partners at American College of Obstetricians, Chapter IX, CalOptima, and Orange County Social Services Agency for their contributions in developing this important resource.
