CalWORKs eligibility criteria has been expanded to include eligibility during any stage of pregnancy, effective beginning on July 1, 2022.
PPO applicants ages 19 or older with no other eligible children in the home can apply for CalWORKs at any stage of the pregnancy and will no longer be required to wait until the second trimester to apply for CalWORKs. They will get an increase on their monthly pregnancy special needs (PSN) payment from $47 to $100.
This means eligible families with no other children can apply to access cash benefits as soon as they learn they are pregnant.
