There is exciting progress in child care apprentice programs across the county! Two youth apprentices from Savanna School District have successfully completed their apprenticeships via the OC Pathways program and have been offered permanent positions with the district.
First 5 OC’s role in supporting this apprenticeship ecosystem continues to be essential as we have been the facilitator between the districts and the OC Pathways apprentice participants.
In related news, Rancho Santiago Community College’s (RSCCD) first cohort of apprentices have graduated from their 18-month program. RSCCD held a job fair that was well attended, with strong participation from apprentices and several early childhood employers including Orange County Head Start, Catalyst Kids, Think Together, Beyond Blindness and others. Employers reported meeting qualified candidates, with Catalyst Kids even conducting interviews on the spot!
