2025 EDI data shows encouraging growth in the Language and Cognitive Development domain. Readiness in this area rose from 67.4% in 2015 to 74.4% in 2025, with notable improvements in basic literacy, complex literacy, and numeracy skills. These gains reflect the impact of early literacy initiatives and the power of aligned, community-based efforts to support early learning.
In the community, Sacred Path and La Habra Little Learners are advancing early literacy through culturally relevant programming. Sacred Path integrates language-building through storytelling in Native American communities, while La Habra’s expansion into new neighborhoods includes a focus on early literacy and numeracy. These strategies align with EDI findings showing growth in this domain and reinforce the importance of early exposure to books, letters, and numbers.
