At its recent meeting, the First 5 Orange County Board of Commissioners received an update on the organization’s Community Outreach Plan, highlighting significant progress made over the past 18 months to better connect with families across Orange County.
The presentation outlined the breadth and impact of First 5 OC’s outreach efforts, including participation in 146 community events and direct engagement with more than 15,000 families with young children. These efforts were made possible through strong partnerships with trusted partners that serve as the foundation of First 5 OC’s outreach and engagement work.
Looking ahead, First 5 OC staff will continue to expand and strengthen the organization’s volunteer network, deepen relationships with trusted messengers in South Orange County, and further refine outreach strategies to meet families where they already are. These efforts include increasing First 5 OC’s presence in familiar and trusted settings such as child care programs, pediatric and family medical offices, and other community spaces where families naturally seek information and support.
Board members provided valuable input on shaping outreach priorities and goals for the 2026–27 planning period, helping to guide the next phase of this work. In addition to the outreach update, the Board approved several key items, including funding for the CalWORKs Home Visiting Program, a memorandum of understanding with CalOptima Health, and an agreement with Full Circle Health Network. These approvals further strengthen First 5 OC’s ability to support families and advance early childhood health and development throughout Orange County.
