Our June meeting kicked off with recognition of eight Family Ambassadors. We recognized their contributions with certificates and a small gift to commemorate their time with First 5 OC.
Next, Cristina Blevins presented on our updated Child Care Landscape. F5OC Board members were very engaged, with questions and comments about a range of topics, including the costs of child care versus family income, data for families with children with disabilities, and the economic impact of the lack of child care. Board members were impressed with the detail of the data and that F5OC’s work is making a significant impact in critical sectors like workforce and businesses.
Lisa Burke gave a summary of the communications work accomplished in 2024-25 and noted that staff will be exploring the potential to bring components of communications work in house.
The next Board meeting is scheduled for August 6, 2025.
