Join us at 9 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2022, as First 5 Orange County meets in person.

The meeting will be held at County Administration South, 601 N. Ross Street, Multipurpose Room, Santa Ana, CA 92701. Members of the public can listen to live audio streaming of the meeting via phone or Zoom.

At the October meeting, Tiffany Alva will share progress on our work to increase infant and toddler child care, including implementing the Orange County Infant and Toddler Child Care Taskforce that is focusing on local child care solutions; partnering with Community for Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Opportunities (CIELO) to launch a countywide child care initiative to support Family Child Care and Family Friend and Neighbor providers; and launching the Countywide Early Learning and Child Care Collaborative.

The First 5 Board will receive an update on fatherhood engagement, review an updated logo, and provide direction on Healthy Smiles For Kids sustainability planning.

The Board will also hear a presentation on obesity prevention and treatment from Dr. Patricia Riba of Dr. Riba’s Health Club and the nonprofit organization Serving Kids Hope.

Public Comments:

Members of the public may address the Board regarding any item in one of two ways:

  1. Spoken Comment. General public comments will be addressed during the general public comment item on the agenda. For specific agenda items, speakers will be recognized by the Commission Chair at the time the agenda item is to be considered. A speaker’s comments shall be limited to three minutes. Anyone causing disruption can be removed from the meeting at the discretion of the Chair.
  2. Written Comment. First 5 Orange County is also accepting public comments to be submitted by emailing them to The comments will be distributed to all of the Board members and read into the record. If you wish to comment on a specific agenda item, please identify the item in your email.

Public comments will be made available to the public upon request.
