Local Planning Council releases its child care assessment

Jun 20, 2025 | News & Announcements

Local Planning Councils (LPC) are established by the state to provide a forum to identify local priorities for child care and the development of policies to meet those priorities. The lead agency for Orange County’s LPC is Orange County Department of Education. The council has about 40 members.

Cristina Blevins participates on the council and was recently named chair for 2025-26 and 2026-27. The LPC recently released its child care assessment, which is required every five years. Key findings in their assessment are consistent with our landscape analysis. A copy of the full report can be accessed here.

We’re excited to see the LPC develop such a well-rounded and comprehensive report, and First 5 OC is proud to support the continued advancement of this work. With Cristina’s leadership as chair and the strong alignment with our priority data points, we see a valuable opportunity to build on this collective effort moving forward.
