First 5 OC recently hosted a community forum on the Conditions of Children in Orange County in partnership with Board of Supervisors Chair Doug Chaffee and the Social Services Agency (SSA). The forum provided a deeper look at one of the issues highlighted in the report: child care.
Chair Chaffee opened the forum, followed by a review of the data showing the significant need, especially for infant and toddler care. A panel of speakers shared innovative solutions to address that need, including Dr. Sue Johnson, Superintendent of the Savanna School District, Johanna Perez from the City of La Habra, and Mike Daniels from the Small Business Development Council.
The event concluded with a data walk, during which we had one-on-one conversations about this critical topic.
