The Children and Families Commission of Orange County Heads to Sacramento for Advocacy Day

Commissioner Dr. Katherine Ahn to Lead Panel on Oral Health; Commission to Host Legislative Roundtable Breakfast in Conjunction

Sacramento, Calif. – January 30, 2015 – The Children and Families Commission of Orange County will join the First 5 Association in Sacramento for Advocacy Day at the State Capital on Feb. 10, 2015. The Commission will host a Legislative Breakfast and lead the panel discussion on Oral Health, one of the focus areas for the First 5 Association’s policy agenda for 2015.

The Legislative Roundtable Breakfast hosted by the Children and Families Commission of Orange County will kick off the Advocacy Day activities and bring together legislators for a discussion on the First 5 Association Policy Platform and the priority issues of 2015, Board of Equalization Administration Costs and Children’s Oral Health.

Following the breakfast, Commissioner Dr. Katherine Ahn will participate on the panel discussion addressing Oral Health. Dr. Ahn’s presentation will highlight the significant outcomes seen in Orange County as a result of the Commission’s $30 million investment in initiatives such as the creation of Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County.

The event will provide the Commission with opportunities for professional development and networking with other state agencies, early childhood educators, state and county policymakers and health practitioners who provide valuable services to children ages 0 to 5 and their families.
