Children and Families Commission Recognizes Organizations for their Commitment to Orange County’s Children

IRVINE – Several leading businesses and organizations have been honored by the Children and Families Commission of Orange County. In front of more than 200 community and business leaders, child advocates, elected officials and invited guests, five organizations were presented with the 2007 Peter A. Hartman Award of Excellence. The awards are given to recipients who are committed to enhancing the lives of children in Orange County.

This year’s honorees included the Angeles Baseball Foundation, Building Industry Association/HomeAid, Meredith Publishing, Orange County Business Council, and the Orange County Register. Each of the honorees was recognized for their commitment and contribution to the health and well-being of children and families in the county.

“We are very fortunate to have a business community in Orange County that is so interested and vested in our children’s future. Through the innovative partnerships that have been established the Children and Families Commission, Orange County’s families are able to benefit from the unique programs in a county which values taking care of its own,” said Commission Chairwoman Sally Snyder, RN.

“The business community clearly understands that in order for the business community to succeed, we must protect and enhance the quality of life in Orange County,” commented Lucy Dunn, President and CEO of the Orange County Business Council. “By investing in our children, we help ensure that Orange County remains the leading place to work, recreate, and raise our families.”

Through sponsorships raised at the event, each of the Peter A. Hartman Award recipients was able to direct financial assistance to their Orange County charity of choice.

The event was held on March 15 in Santa Ana at the Discovery Science Center, which is dedicated to educating children in science, math and technology through interactive exhibits and programs.
