Join us at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2022, as the First 5 Orange County Children and Families Commission meets via Zoom.

At the April meeting, the First 5 Orange County Commission will appoint Marie Jeannis, Executive Director of Quality and Population Health Management at CalOptima, to serve on the Technical Advisory Committee. The agenda includes updates on Universal Transitional Kindergarten, the development of First 5 Orange County’s Equity Commitment, and the organizational structure.

The Commission will also hold public hearings on the First 5 California 2020-2021 Annual Report and the California State Controller’s Results of Audit Oversight of County Commissions; and the updated First 5 Orange County Strategic Plan for FY 2021-2022 through FY 2025-2026.

The primary presentation item will be a discussion of the Long-Term Financial Plan and potential impact of a flavor ban on tobacco products if passed in November 2022. Staff will also share a progress report on the renewal strategy to address family homelessness.

Public Comments: Members of the public may address the Commission regarding any item in one of two ways:

  1. Real-time Comment. To provide a real-time public comment during the meeting, please access the Zoom information identified above. Speakers will be recognized by the Commission Chair at the time the agenda item is to be considered. If attending virtually via Zoom, use the hand-raise icon to be called on for public comment, and if calling in via telephone, dial *9. A speaker’s comments shall be limited to three minutes. Anyone causing disruption can be removed from the meeting at the discretion of the Chair.
  2. Written Comment. The Commission is also accepting public comments to be submitted by emailing them to First5OC@cfcoc.ocgov.com. The comments will be distributed to all of the Commissioners and read into the record. If you wish to comment on a specific agenda item, please identify the item in your email.

General public comments will be addressed during the general public comment item on the agenda. In order to ensure that staff has the ability to provide comments to the Commissioners in a timely manner, please submit your comments by 12:00 p.m. on April 5, 2022.

Public comments will be made available to the public upon request.
