There are several teaching permits you can pursue. Each permit has its own coursework and experience requirements. Local Funding Sources: Here are two local programs that may be available in Orange County to help you obtain a Child Development Permit (CDP):
- Child Development Training Consortium (CDTC) Stipend Program
Administered through OCDE, the CDTC Stipend Program helps cover initial application fees — and sometimes fingerprinting costs — for first-time, upgraded, or renewal Child Development Permits at the Teacher level and below. You may also qualify for a reimbursement of up to $100 for online renewals. - Quality Counts CA (QCC) Workforce Pathways Stipend Program:
Led by OCDE and the Orange County Local Planning Council (OC LPC), this program provides financial support to early educators who are pursuing their Child Development Permit. If you’re enrolled in an accredited college or CDP coursework, you can qualify for stipends that help cover tuition and permit-related costs. The program supports permit levels from Assistant through Site Supervisor and includes other professional development incentives.
